The Heart Of Michael Johns Art
•05/24/2009 • Leave a CommentOne of my favorite pass times is playing with photos in Photobucket. Here’s an example of one reason why. I’ve often noticed that there’s something about certain people that can’t be explained at first glance and so one is challenged to look deeper to find what it is about those people that makes them stand out from the rest.
Michael Johns is one of those people. I’ve noticed in virtually every photo I’ve seen of this musical artist, there’s an almost indiscernible aura about him. Perhaps that’s the reason his fans are so drawn to his unexplained magnetism. Maybe it’s all the different layers of his talent combined into one that exudes such tremendous energy.
Most of the people to whom I try to explain this phenomena are taken aback or simply don’t understand what I mean when I mention my perception of seeing auras and energy. You can call me eccentric or weird or whatever name you like and I won’t be offended in the least. I’ll forgive you for not having whatever vision it is that allows me to see what others can’t see.
This site is about exploring the unexplained and that’s what I’ll attempt to do in most cases. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I’ll keep the narrative short and just show you what I mean instead.
The following pictures all come from the first (original photo) and haven’t been retouched or manipulated in any way except by using different effects in Photobucket.
If you’re one of those people who see more than most everyone else, you’ll see what I see in the original picture before the effects are added. If not, scroll down and have a look at what Photobucket was able to mechanically see when it started drawing the portraits. Does it only draw what’s there to be seen or is it some trick in the lighting?
This is the original photo before adding effects:

In the next photo, I used the same picture and the Photobucket Heat Map effect on the entire area surrounding Michael Johns. Here’s what Photobucket saw without me adding anything else. I’ll reserve my comments on the pictures until after you’ve had the chance to view them all with different effects.
The next photo was done utilizing only the Photobucket Paint feature. I did two different versions with this feature. One was done with Michael included in the painting and the other with only the surrounding area painted.
This is the same effect with higher level of saturation on the background.

And finally, I did one using the Photobucket Cartoon Drawing effect on the surroundings.
Here’s what I find so interesting in all of these pics. Michael Johns is about to release a new album (on June 23rd) called Hold Back My Heart. The original picture was posted as a promo picture at one of his sites and was in fact used for the backside (early art) for the new album. In every single one of these pictures, Michael is surrounded by a heart.
His first single from that album is available for digital download at iTunes and Amazon.com. The single is titled “Heart On My Sleeve”. If you look again at the photos, you’ll notice that there is indeed a heart on his sleeve in each one of them. It’s more pronounced in some than others, but there never-the-less. You’ll find it in the window pane just above (and below) his sleeve on his left arm every time. Michael is a lefty, so that only makes sense.
There are a few other interesting notes for me to leave you with before you to laugh hysterically at the observations I’ve made. In the last photo, there are eight layers of hearts. Michael finished eighth on American Idol. That’s probably just a coincidence, but here’s another coincidence to go along with it.
When asked to give his interpretation of art for Playboy’s Rock The Rabbit, Michael came up with virtually the exact same design as what’s shown in the last picture above. He described the design as coming to him immediately. Here’s a quote and a picture of what he came up with.
PLAYBOY: Tell us about your concept for the T-shirt design.
JOHNS: When I was asked to design a T-shirt an image came into my head straight away. I thought, How cool it would be to have the outline of the bunny over and over again like a maze—all leading into a heart at the center? It’s something I would want to wear.
My turn to ask a question. How cool would it be to have the outline of the heart over and over again like a maze—all leading into a picture of Michael Johns in the center? It’s something I would want to wear.
Here’s to looking at things in a new light. There’s nothing about this site that should ever be taken seriously. The observations and opinions I intend to share might prove interesting topics for conversations anyway.
